6 people arrested for poaching deer in Achanakmar Tiger Reserve..

Forest officials said on Tuesday that Chhattisgarh forest department has arrested six people for hunting a deer in Achanakmar Tiger Reserve. The department has claimed that the department has also recovered 35 kg of meat from the accused and sent it for further investigation.

 

 

We got a tip-off that some hunters have sneaked into the forest and killed an animal. We began the search and in the early hours, authorities arrested two men, Vivek Nelson and Mexon George, and also recovered 10 kilos of chital meat.

 

 

Sharma said that based on the statements of the two, the houses of four other Santosh Porte, Suresh Oraon, Bhubaneswar Porte and Budharam have also been raided and 25 kilograms of chital meat have been recovered. “We have also seized the bow, arrow, steel cable and clutch wire from Budhram. During interrogation, it was revealed that Chital was allegedly murdered by a Hasrat Khan of Bilaspur with a 0.22 bore gun. Later, two more accused Asaram and Raghunath have also been arrested.

 

 

 

Sharma has said that the main accused Hasrat Khan, Santosh Porte and Suresh Oraon are still absconding. We are raiding various places in this regard and there may be more arrests,” he said, adding that under the relevant provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act 1972, the accused have been booked..
